Nothing ever seems to change at Au 917, and we have a hunch the dedicated Plateau regulars like it that way, thank you very much. The menu (and prices) have still not changed since we were here in 1994. That said, we love the classic decor here: café chairs, large mirrors and calming burgundy-coloured wood trim.
Here are some of our favourites on the menu: mousse de foies de volaille, gratin dauphinois, rognons de veau dijonnaise, magret de canard et cuisse confit, sauce orange, bavette de boeuf sauce poivre ou moutarde, boeuf bourguignon, mignons de porc aux raisins (very tasty). Lastly, don't hesitate to try the tasty filet d'agneau a l'estragon.
Although things don't often vary here, it's a great place to go on a Tuesday night when you need a little bit of Bohemian excitement. We do have one slight beef, though: the tables are simply too close together to have a really intimate meal—but maybe that community thing's the whole idea...
