El Meson
1678 Saint-Joseph Blvd. Lachine. Angrignon métro. Bus: 195. Accessible from Lachine canal bike path

Tel. 634-0442. Every day, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. $35 for two before cervezas, taxes or service. Table d'hôte: $7.85 (noon); $9.50—$20 (evening).
A cozy family restaurant facing the Lachine canal, at the end (or beginning, if you like) of the bike path. Snilling cyclists quench their thirst on the terrace with a Corona, or retreat from the rain to sip margaritas in the beach vacation atmosphere of this converted old residence. The Lopezs serve an authentic cuisine that is beyond comparison with the average Tex-Mex fare downtown. A choice of four sauces for the enchiladas or the grilled suprême de volaille: tomato, green tomato, spiced cacao, or pumpkin with sunflower seeds. Takeout orders avallable. Mexican beer and wine.

Sample menu: Tortilla soup, gazpacho, guacamole, ceviche, Mexican shrimp cocktail, fajitas, chili rellenos, grilledfish, Yucatan-style fish, crème caramel, homemade lemon pie.
