Euro Deli
3619 Saint-Laurent Blvd. Saint-Laurent métro. Bus 55

Tel. 843-7853. Sunday to Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday to Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 a.m. $15 for two before taxes and tip.
The original and (for the moment) unique Euro Deli has been virtually an institution on Saint-Laurent since it opened in 1982. Be prepared to abandon your most cherished chichi restaurant in favour of cafeteria service. "Main" stream (very). Young clientele considerably less image-obsessed than you'll find at the chic restos to the south. Good stop for a cheese pizza slice, either inside or crouched on the front steps in the spring, drinking in the sites and smells of the lower Main. Expect a new one to open soon on Ste-Catherine West, in front of the Faubourg. Brio instead of booze. Bread from Chez Panibel. Self serve.

Sample menu: Homemade minestrone, pizza slices, spinach and cheese calzone, cheese lasagna, spinach and cheese manicotti, beef tortellini, meatball sandwiches, your choice of pasta and sauces, garlic bread, Caesar salad, spinach salad, tiramisu, tartuffo, carrot cake.
