Frank
65 Saint-Zotique E. Beaublen métro. Bus 18 W.

Tel. 273-7734. Monday to Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Closed Sunday. $70 for two before wine, taxes and service. Table d'hôte: $12.50—$24.50 (noon); $25.50—$36.50 (evening; 4 courses).
Frank has been holding court in Little Italy for over thirty-five years now, making excellent Italian food, of the sort that results in recriminations on the scales the next day—of course, no one's forcing you to finish your plate. Chef Giuseppe Sciacca's cuisine is a typically Italian melange of audacity and tradition, fresh herbs and elbow grease—the better to knead the polenta with. Tomato herb pizza as appetizer. Wine list exclusively boasting Italian wines. Private salon capable of hosting over thirty people. Private parking behind the pharmacy.

Sample menu: Young pig in tuna mayonnaise, butter and basil ricotta ravioli, veal and spinach rotolo, pancetta and sun-dried tomato farfalle, homemade gnocchi Piemontese, pork sausage with sweet peppers and mushrooms, stuffed leg of guinea fowl, monkfish with shallots in red wine, tomato and black olive mahi-mahi, homemade ice cream, tiramisu, chocolate mousse.
