If, wherever you travel, you love to find a neighbourhood resto, you are going to love Terrasse Lafayette. Firstly, where else but Montreal would you find a Greek restaurant with a French/Louisiana name?

Despite the fact that it is basically a brochetterie, Terrasse Lafayette still racks up the points in summer for their breezy neighbourhood terrasse, situated adjacent to their herb garden. In winter, to avoid the depressing thought that there are two feet of snow on the much beloved summer terrasse, pull up a cozy seat by the exposed brick wall, and appreciate the white stucco, half-timbered ceiling. Alternatively, admire the winter scenes of this charming neighbourhood from the window tables. Terrasse Lafayette definitely has a relaxed yet romantic feel.

Tasted recently, their pythakia was scented and as elegant as Greek lamb chops get. The fried calamari are always good, the brochettes are tasty, the homemade fried potatoes with herbs are delicious, and the souvlaki are simply scrumptious, especially when tucked into a spongy homemade pita. If you're feeling adventurous, try the huge hamburger, which tastes like a doner on a massive bun and looks like a regular patty on steroids. Hmmm...
