One night, scouring Marie-Anne for new restaurants, we stumbled upon a little jewel, right in the heart of the Plateau. This tiny new resto, which does catering as well, has been open now since early 1997. La Panse Pleine is already a cuisine du marché contender, and should be taken very seriously. The table d’hôte included soup, hors d'oeuvres, a main dish, dessert and coffee. No skimping here, folks—the food is delicious and relatively inexpensive, and the presentation divine. The waitress details each and every offering on the chalkboard menu (no printed menu for them!) with the kind of enthusiasm and approach passionne that is behind everything at La Panse Pleine.

The most original main dish the day we visited was cuisse de pintade farcie, which was sculpted to look like an Anjou pear! It was stuffed with pork and guinea-fowl meat in a porto sauce, and tasted absolutely succulent. The pave de saumon et sa fondue aux poireaux a Pestragon was light and delicious.

La Panse Pleine is an intimate restaurant, and their premises are clean and warm, allowing one to concentrate on the great food. From the soup (a great potage de Crécy) to the dessert, we were not disappointed. The desserts (montblanc and mousse aux deux chocolats) were lovely to look at, as well as tasty, and the sorbet aux poires et aux framboises hit the spot.
