Now, hold on! Before you book the babysitter, you should know that Le Resto du Village is as idiosyncratic as they come. What makes this place so, er, unique? Certainly not the fact that it is situated in the "Gay Village". Nor is it that it's open twenty-four hours a day. No, for us, the bizarre thing about Le Resto à Village is the fact that it serves cuisine canadienne! What does that mean? Well, comfort food like roast pork and mashed potatoes, but also fried chicken, pan-fried steak, club sandwiches, hamburgers, in short, everything from escargots to poutine!

The decor? A bistro-like facade outside, dark inside with tavern tables and striped, forest green wallpaper. The high ceilings with slowly rotating fans add to the feeling of faded elegance the place gives off.

It would be easy not to include this resto in our collection because of the pedestrian kind of food they serve, but make no mistake, what they do, they do well. So, when you come, come for the fun, and not for the finesse!

Besides, where else can two eat for under $13?
