The Algerian-born owner-chef of Les Rites Berbères is a true wine lover—in fact, we often run into him at the wine tastings for the restaurant trade. It can be fun to bring a really nice bottle of wine here, just to see if it catches his eye as he uncorks your bottle.

However, the real reason to make the extra effort to bring a fine wine here is his mouth-watering, hauntingly spiced, heartbreakingly tender mechoui.

You've got to get a minimum of seven friends together to book ahead for Les Rites Berbères' ecstasy provoking mechoui, but there is something just so special about the way wine works with this traditional dish. We're talking spiritual harmony here.

The menu includes a good variety of couscous dishes, a delicious merguez sausage dish, and the other lip-smacking house specialty, chicken with olives.

The decor matches dark green and white walls and geometric wall graphics with green tablecloths and black bistro chairs, decorated here and there with beautiful terra cotta clay pots.
