Went to Zyng's noodle shoppe on St. Denis the other day. Serious concept food, virtual flavours, bottled pre-mixed sauces, maybe a great franchise idea. Had strong desire to head for Vietnamese resto with lousy decor and fresh tasting ingredients. They were showing Tampopo on a monitor and selling the video for about $40. Where is there good ramen in this city? Mongolian noodle place opened up near me (Sherbrooke and Melrose I think). Two lost guys.

Pitiful. This can be good food if the chef understands what he is doing. Reminded me of a dumpling place I ended up in some town in China. Only one dish—some sort of chard-like vegetable chopped up in a dumpling. Everyone had about twenty of them. Big choice—hot sauce or not. That was lunch. Just cuz someone is Chinese behind the counter doesn't mean that he or she can cook Chinese food. —
